G family inhibitor program.jpg

Stelic Institute & Co. has identified distinct glycogenes as novel therapeutic targets for various fibrosis-associated diseases (Table 1). In addition to selective RNAi-based medicine, several types of glycan inhibitors have been theoretically considered; inhibitors found through screening chemical libraries or natural products, monosaccharide inhibitors, enzyme inhibitors, substrate analogs, acceptor analogs, glycoside primers, enzymatic glycan removal and blocking glycan-protein interactions. Stelic Institute & Co. has designed specific glycan inhibitors based on the three-dimensional structure of enzymes corresponding to the glycogene of interest. After narrowing down candidates from a chemical library followed by in vitro fibrosis experiments, we are currently evaluating a series of compounds that target distinct glycogenes.
